Lenses
Reflection Free Lenses:
This coating reduces reflection of light from the surface of the lens, thereby increasing the amount of light transmission. Patients will notice a reduction in glare and ghost images, an improvement in night driving, and a clearer lens for others to see their eyes. A reflection free coating is also beneficial if you spend time on a computer, reducing eyestrain caused by computer screen glare. At EyeCare Associates, we feel that this coating is beneficial to nearly every patient.
UV Protective Lenses:
This is a colorless protective coating that protects the eyes from the sun and UV rays, helping to prevent a number of serious eye diseases. We recommend this clear coating on all lenses.
Polycarbonate Lenses:
These lenses are thinner and lighter than regular plastic lenses and are safer for children as they are 10 times more impact-resistant than other plastics. They come standard with UV protection and a scratch coating and are recommended for all children.
High-Index Lenses:
These lenses are the lightest and thinnest lenses available and make lenses of even very strong prescriptions look thin and less noticeable.
Photochromic Lenses:
These lenses are dual purpose, providing sun protection with a tinted lens when you are outdoors, and a clear, regular lens indoors. They provide convenient and automatic protection, blocking 100% of damaging UVA and UVB rays.
Drivewear:
These lenses are arguably some of the best sunglass lenses available, as they change shades depending on the lighting conditions, even behind the windshield of car. They are a light amber color in cloudy, overcast lighting and become darker in bright sunlight. They also come standard with polarization, a feature that cuts out much of the glare found in non-polarized sunglasses.
Polarized Lenses:
Polarization is a feature available on sunglasses that blocks extra glare from water, the road, snow, or any shiny surface. These lenses are especially good for driving, and we recommend these lenses for anyone with sunglasses.
Progressive Lenses:
These lenses are multifocal lenses that provide a gradual change in power from the top of the lens to the bottom of the lens. There are no lines in the lens, preventing images from jumping and also making it cosmetically more appealing. With these lenses, you can see from a distance, sit at a computer, and read up close comfortably.
Office Lens:
These lenses are designed specifically for the patient who spends long hours in an office doing computer and deskwork. With intermediate vision in the center of the lens and near vision at the bottom, it reduces eyestrain often found after long hours on the computer.
