Our Staff

Dr. Donald Witte, O.D.

Dr. Don Witte graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1966 and has been practicing in York since 1968. In 1998, he formed EyeCare Associates along with Dr. Kant. He has been a leader both professionally and in the community since coming to York. He has been a long time member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association, even serving on the Board of Directors. He has also been involved in the political aspect of our profession, serving on the board of directors of the NOA-PAC. In 2002, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Nebraska Optometric Association. He has voluntarily served on many boards in the community, including the board at York General Hospital. He has also been involved in the city council, planning commission, and York economic development. As a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church, he is currently serving as the Executive Director of the congregation. He has a wife, Shirley, two sons, and six grandchildren.

 

Dr. Richard Kant

Dr. Richard Kant graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1981. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln prior to that. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and Nebraska Optometric Association.  Involvement in the community includes the Optimist Club, of which he is a past president, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he has been involved in the various boards governing the church, including chairman of the congregation on several occasions.  Practice life began in York in 1981 when he was first associated with Dr. James Stansberry, until the senior partner retired. In 1998, he merged his practice with Dr. Don Witte to form EyeCare Associates LLC. Dr. Kant enjoys golf, yard and garden work and college athletics in his spare time.

Dr. Amy Kadavy

Dr. Amy Kadavy joined EyeCare Associates in August of 2007.  She graduated cum laude from Southern College of Optometry in 2007 and summa cum laude from Doane College in 2003.  Professionally, she is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Nebraska Optometric Association, the Contact Lens and Cornea Section, Beta Sigma Kappa Honorary Society and the Rigid Gas Permeable Lens Institute.  She also enjoys working with children and received part of her training from Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.  She performs both Infant See and See to Learn examinations.  In the community, she is a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society golf committee, Habitat for Humanity, and Women for York.  She grew up in Gresham, Nebraska and now resides in York with her husband Kelly, and son Aidan.

   

Front Desk Staff:
Our front office staff is very friendly and experienced, going the extra mile to make your visit to our office an enjoyable one. Joan has been with our office almost 13 years and specializes in insurance and billing and contact lens training. Mary Jo has worked in the optometric field for about 10 years and specializes in pretesting patients, setting up referrals, and making sure the patients needs are taken care of. Pam has been with our office 4 years and runs the front desk area, making sure all of our patients are properly attended to. Amy has been with us for one year and excels at working with patients during pretesting and specialized diagnostic testing. Lita is the newest member of our office and we are excited to have her as a hard-working and friendly addition to our staff.

 

Lab Staff:
We have an experienced lab staff that enjoy fitting glasses and are knowledgeable of all of the latest products. Laurie has been with us for 4 years and specializes in the fitting and ordering of both contact lenses and spectacles. Bonnie has been with our office for almost three years and specializes in helping patients find glasses that will suit them perfectly. Melissa has been with us almost a year and enjoys staying up with the newest styles of frames and newest technology in lenses.

 

Central City Staff:
Miriam has been with working in the optical field for over 25 years and is proficient in fitting and adjusting glasses. She also handles insurance and billing, contact lens training, and visual field testing. Karla has been working in Central City for 7 years, helping to prepare and pretest patients on days when a doctor is in the office. She also works part time in our York office, pretesting patients and helping with referrals.
